Recently I was listening to Mufti Saeed khan sab’s lecture and he pointed out a passage from book known as “Perestrioka” written by Gorbachev (Ex-Russian president) during last days of his tenure. Gorbachev pointed out that how the women also working with men (as part of equal rights) had destroyed the new generation. This also has taken the toll on Women as well. He wrote in his book that women should be made home makers so that they can give raise up a generation of people of good quality.

A recent survey, widely published in Soviet journals, found that a woman with young children has seven hours and 36 minutes a day for herself – this includes the time she is supposed to sleep. After paid employment and domestic chores end, there is 17 minutes a day for family “quality time”.
Islam is the solution for all our problems and if we go away from Islam our problems only increase but dont decrease. Islam doesnt prohibit women to work (in a shariah compliant environment) but it lays great emphasis on raising the family, tarbiyya of kids and making them strong muslims. Mothers and Fathers are both responsible for this, but mother is more responsible. If both the family members are working and leave the kids in others care then they will have to answer to Allah one day about their responsibilty. I have read some rulings where the scholars were asked if the woman can benefit the community at large by working in her profession, but the kids will get affected, the scholars have ruled that it is more important for her to take care of her kids first though it means giving up her profession.
This in no way absolves the men from their duty to give time to the kids but the shariah lays the burden of earning and providing for the family on the man rather than woman. That is why Rasulullah (SAWS) had mentioned in one Hadith to the meaning that if a person works hard to provide Halal to his family so that they dont spread their hands in need in front of others, it is as if he is out waging a battle in the path of Allah. The man and woman’s roles are complimentary in Islam and not Competitive. Everyone’s job is defined and we all will be answerable to Allah about our responsibilities.
Awareness needs to be raised on these issues among our brothers who are exceedingly prefering a working life partner or even sometimes forcing them to work even though it means that the kids have to go to day care.
The wise men learn from the experience of others and the lesser wise learn by self-experience by stumbling along the way. The wisest learn from the guidance of the One who has created them and knows about them, more than they know about themselves. They never question the wisdom behind the commandments for they know, the wisdom behind these commandments is perfect. They remove the reliance on their own reasoning and have complete reliance on the perfect knowledge and wisdom of Allah.
